JMAKEWHATIS.LOCAL(8) System Manager's Manual JMAKEWHATIS.LOCAL(8) NAME jmakewhatis.local, jcatman.local -- start jmakewhatis or jcatman.local for local file systems SYNOPSIS /usr/local/libexec/jmakewhatis.local [options] directories ... /usr/local/libexec/jcatman.local [options] directories ... DESCRIPTION jmakewhatis.local start jmakewhatis(1) only for file systems physically mounted on the system where the jmakewhatis.local is being executed. Running jmakewhatis by periodic weekly for rw nfs-mounted /usr may kill your NFS server -- all NFS clients start jmakewhatis at the same time! So use this wrapper for cron(8) instead of calling jmakewhatis di- rectly. jcatman.local is using for same purposes as jmakewhatis.local but for jcatman(1).
