The mate-power-backlight-helper requires to be run with root privileges. OPTIONS --help Show summary of options. --set-brightness BRIGHTNESS_LEVEL Set the given brightness. --get-brightness Get the current brightness. --get-max-brightness Get the number of brightness levels supported.
