NAME
     maptolayer - Utility to generate layers.config files

SYNTAX
     maptolayer < gdctocds.map > layers.config

DESCRIPTION
     This program produces reads a Cadence kit gdstocds.map file on standard in-
     put  and  produces  a  simple  layers.config file suitable for use with the
     gdsreader program.  The layers.config file will have all the layers  hidden
     and  will	have a unique color and depth generated for each.  The user must
     unhide layers, (hidden no), and set desired thickness  and  depth	info  if
     POVRAY output is desired.

ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
     NONE   No special Environment variables

EXAMPLES
     To run this program the standard way type:

      maptolayer < gdctocds.map > layers.config

     (This would produce a layers.config file ready for editing.)

     In  the  install  directory, under doc/gdsreader-VERSION, there should be a
     sample test.gds and layers.config file.  Read the documentation  there  for
     details about the gdsreader program. The layers.config file should contains
     layer descriptions of the form:
     [...]
     newlayer
       gdsno 15
       hidden no
       name Ndiff
       red 0.9
       green 0.1
       blue 0.9
       fill no
       hatch no
       thickness 0.1
       depth -0.02
     endlayer
     [...]

     The depth and thickness parameters are only used for povray output.
